"5* for Ian and Janet. They gave an exceptional performance for our ceremony and wedding breakfast. I couldn't have wanted anything more. They really added class and beauty to our wedding and were amazing with performing a special song request which they learnt just for our ceremony. Anyone thinking of a string quartet, should book the Ludford duo for a more intimate and romantic touch. Fully recommend!!" Kaylee Linton

"It really was a beautiful and fun day; I couldn't thank you enough...A huge thanks to both of you for making the day so classic and beautiful"  Mr and Mrs Gavin Linton

"A huge thank you to Ian and Janet for making my birthday celebration such a memorable event.  The music selection was excellent and very fitting for such an occasion.  Thank you for including the pieces of music which I had requested, which made the performance even more personal.  The music which began the celebration set the event off with a swing and was very warmly received by those sharing my special day.  Good luck for the future."  Sue Tansey

" You were both brilliant on your cellos and had the audience enthralled with your chosen programme...Thank you so much for helping to make the day an outstanding success.  I am sure that we will be in touch again for future events."  Barry Roseman

"I just wanted to say a huge thanks to Ian and Janet for welcoming us into their beautiful home and for working so hard to create their own version of Romeo and Juliet's "Kissing You" song for our ceremony. They are both so talented that they make it sound much better than the original... it sent shivers down my spine. I couldn't have chosen a better band and feel so lucky to have found such talented musicians in my limited budget. I cannot wait to hear them in full for our actual wedding and have no doubt they will make our wedding hugely romantic by incorporating their love for one another in their music. Only 8 weeks to go! "  Kaylee Wildman

"An exceptional evening of exceptional music by two virtuosi and personable cellists! The well balanced programme of classic and contemporary music  resounded around the large hall, delighting and enthralling all who were privileged to be present"  Major Rudi Pilsel, The Salvation Army.

"Thank you so much for playing at the Musical Tea Party yesterday.  You were brilliant!  I'm sure it was a sell out because you were on the bill and you didn't disappoint.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it."  Mrs. Diane Waddington.

"We were fortunate to be at the Friends of St Mary's event and heard the Ludford Duo play. They were amazing and were quite happy to fit their programme around what the organisers had in mind. I'm putting pressure on my daughter to get married so that we can hear them again!"

"Ian and Janet, performing at Hopton Court, provided such relaxing music with excellent arrangements for 2 cellos.  They created an ambience of a refined tea party and you could still hear the person next to you whilst enjoying the music.  The concert at the end allowed the Duo to show their full range of talents.  Thanks to the Duo."  Val and Graham Simpson.

"They were superb! Lovely tunes while we were enjoying our tea and then several pieces for us to listen to. Thankyou Janet and Ian for making our Musical Tea at Hopton a great success!" Angela Drennan.

"
The Friends of St Mary’s held a Musical Tea Party at Hopton Court on 14 August. It was very refined with dainty sandwiches and delicious cakes, giving it the air of yesteryear. What really gave it class and sophistication was how the assembled guests were serenaded by the twin cellos of Ian and Janet Ludford, the Ludford Duo.The period when the guests arrived and were mingling and chatting was accompanied by suitably lilting ‘easy listening’ music that did not intrude too much into the guests’ consciousness, but added that feeling of ‘class’. What was truly remarkable was how the Ludford Duo were able to demonstrate their versatility and the abilities of their instruments. Many of us are familiar with the classical cello, a rather ‘serious’ instrument associated with mournful melodies. Few, if any, of us will be familiar with popular music played by cellos, but the cellos of the Ludford Duo gave us popular classics of our youth, songs from the shows, and ‘Lady Madonna’ by the Beatles had ’em swaying in the aisles.
Then, after an ample afternoon tea, the Ludford Duo demonstrated their full abilities playing ‘in concert’ a selection from their classical repertoire by Boccherini, Albeniz, Offenbach and Delibes. It was spellbinding. Not that we should have been surprised, since Ian was a cellist with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for 39 years prior to his retirement earlier this year and Janet played with various famous orchestras, most recently the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Needless to say the applause was ear–splitting as the guests expressed their appreciation for such a delightful afternoon’s entertainment."
